Poshouinge Ruins: off US 84 a few miles south of Abiquiu. The ruin trail is 0.5 miles in length with 2 vista areas and interpretive signs. The trail traverses steep, uneven surfaces and overlooks remnants of an old pueblo and the Chama River Valley.
Santa Rosa de Abiquiu: off US 84 just south of Abiquiu. The ruins are the remnants of the original Spanish settlement. Built in the 1730's; abandoned in 1748 because of Indian raids; resettled in 1750, and again abandoned when the population moved into the Genizaro pueblo (currently Abiquiu). Call (505) 685-4462.
Abiquiu Lake and Dam: turnoff is 10 miles north of Abiquiu. Boating, water skiing, camping, fishing, picnicking. Toilets, showers, water faucets, grills, and picnic shelters. Call (505) 686-4371.
Ghost Ranch Conference Center: Entrance is 15 miles north of Abiquiu. Year-round education and mission center of the Presbyterian Church for people of diverse faiths, racial, and cultural origins. Monastery of Christ in the Desert: Located in the Chama Canyon wilderness at the end of a 13 mile dirt road which takes off from US 84 near the Ghost Ranch. The monks practice the Benedictine life of prayer, reading, and manual labor which now also include a beautiful scriptorium of sorts in cyberspace at http://www.christdesert.org.
Echo Amphitheater: Located about 20 miles north of Abiquiu. A ten-minute walk from the parking area leads you to this 'theater' naturally hollowed out of sandstone by ages of erosion. Campground and picnic area.
Georgia O'Keeffe Home and Studio: Located right at the entrance of the Abiquiu pueblo, the O'Keeffe Home is open to visitors, by appointment only. Call (505) 685-4539.
