At 6000 ft elevation, the Abiquiu area has four distinct yet tempered seasons.

Winter days are mostly dry, sunny and brisk, followed by freezing and sometimes stormy nights perfect for a crackling wood fire.

Early Spring is temperamental, turning into arid days of howling winds and angry dust swirls, while late Spring usually is pleasant and calm. Summer is warm in the morning, hot and tempestuous in the afternoon with typical thunderstorms.

Summer nights are ideal for calming walks under the bright and starry vault of the New Mexico sky.

The Fall is the most rustic season with pleasant day temperatures and cool nights. The cottonwood bosque snakes along the Chama River like a huge copperhead while on the distant ridges aspens flash their fiery colors, until the seasonal cycle starts over once again.
