Dar al Islam
Dar al Islam (DAI) creates space for communities to gather, reflect, pray, and learn in the sweeping desert landscape of Abiquiu, New Mexico, in a historic architectural complex designed by renowned architect, Hassan Fathy.
Since 1979, Dar al Islam has provided Muslims and non-Muslims with opportunities to learn more about Islam and engage in land-based spiritual contemplation. Dar al Islam was originally founded with the vision of establishing a self-sustaining intentional Muslim community. Learn more about our roots and history here.
Currently, Dar al Islam primarily operates as a retreat center during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. However, following a period of Board building and strategic planning, we are in the process of developing land-based programs.
